Toft buying alpaca fleeces, sell your alpaca fibre here!

The Toft Alpaca Shop is now interested in buying fleeces from other UK alpaca owners (the more local the better). Shearing is about to commence again, and it's likely that a few alpaca owners are sitting on a pile of 2007 fibre.

We are urgently looking for BROWN HUACAYA fibre of all qualities. If you have an attic or a shed full of fleece please give us a call and we'll come and pick it up from you.

We are shearing the first week in July, and shortly following this we will be looking at buying FIRST FLEECES of:

BLACK HUACAYA
GREY HUACAYA
FAWN/BROWN HUACAYA

WHITE SURI
BLACK SURI
GREY SURI

It may be that once we have graded all of our own fibre we will be looking for 22-25 micron alpaca fibre (2nd and 3rd fleeces) in all of the above colours- please phone for details closer to the time.

We will be paying £7.50/kg for baby alpaca (first fleeces, under 22 micron), £4.50/kg for fine alpaca (22-25 micron), £0.50/kg coarse (25-30 micron). All fleeces must be skirted and free from heavy contamination with stains or vegetable matter. Due to the nature of producing natural undyed yarns, fleeces must be single colour i.e no dark fibres in the whites etc.

Fleece can usually be collected from source, or if appropriate postage will be arranged. Once at Toft fleeces will be weighed, resorted and graded. The seller will then receive payment for fibre as received.
