Draycote Water, Alpacas on Resevoir Side
13 May 2008
In order for more people to enjoy seeing our 2008 cria we have moved the four first born babies across to the field that can be seen from Draycote Water. The Reservoir is a very popular place for a Saturday bike ride or a Sunday stroll at this time of year, and why not stop at the top end to have a look at the alpacas.
Draycote Water is a five and a half mile picturesque walk, or a bike ride that takes little over half an hour. A great destination for a family weekend trip when the sun's shining. Toft Alpacas borders onto the side of Draycote Water, and for a long time the alpacas have been placed in fields within clear view of the Reservoir side. For the first time we have put our cria and mothers on this side for the public to enjoy. From this end of the reservoir you can walk through the footpath gate at the double wooden gates and right up the hill to visit the Toft Alpaca Shop. Alternatively, turning right up the footpath will take you up through the main herd, where some 120 alpacas can be seen. It is easy to get straight back onto Draycote Water and continue your walk from here.
If you have seen the alpacas on the side of Draycote, then you can pop into the Shop on your way home. Turn out of the Reservoir and towards Dunchurch. Toft Lane is on your left at the top of Toft Hill. Toft Manor is clearly signposted down here.
